Getting to Santiago de Compostela
The conference venue will be at the Faculty of Mathematics (University of Santiago de Compostela).
By airplane: The closest airport is Rosalía de Castro-Lavacolla international airport (SCQ) located at 15 km from the city centre. From the airport, there is a bus service to the city centre of Santiago de Compostela. Santiago de Compostela is also easily reachable from the airports of A Coruña (LCG) and Vigo (VGO). There are direct buses between these cities as well as regular train services taking around 30–40 minutes from A Coruña train station to Santiago de Compostela and 1–1.5 hours from Vigo train stations to Santiago de Compostela.
By train/bus: Train and bus stations are 25 minutes walk from the Faculty of Mathematics and 20 minutes walk to the centre of the old town.
Travelling from Madrid to Santiago de Compostela by train is a very comfortable option. The national railway company Renfe operates several daily high-speed services on this route, departing from Madrid Chamartín Clara Campoamor station and arriving at Santiago de Compostela–Daniel Castelao station. The available train types are:
AVE: Renfe's flagship high-speed service, reaching up to 310 km/h. The fastest services cover the ~486 km route in as little as 3 hours 2 minutes.
Avlo: Renfe's low-cost high-speed option, offering the same speed at more competitive prices. Advance tickets can be very affordable.
Alvia: A long-distance service combining high-speed and conventional tracks, slightly slower but serving more intermediate stops.
There are around 11 train services per day on this route, with the first departure from Madrid around 07:14. Renfe's ticket price includes a free Cercanías (suburban train) connection at either end of the journey. All AVE and Avlo trains offer free Wi-Fi, power sockets, and access to the PlayRenfe entertainment platform on board. Tickets can be booked at renfe.com. Booking in advance is strongly recommended to get the best fares.
By car: There are convinient car parks available around the city for approximately 9€ per 8 daily hours (see further information for the parking close to the cathedral at City Council parking services).
